Meet Artimus: bringing humanity back to logistics
Chicago, Ill. – Meet Artimus: Revenova’s new Artificial Intelligence agent inside Revenova TMS.
The logistics industry runs on relationships, speed, and precision. But for years, brokers and carriers have been bogged down by manual processes—reading emails, entering data, responding to quote requests—leaving them less time to build the human connections that drive business forward. Revenova is changing that with Artimus, a groundbreaking AI agent built to eliminate busywork and help logistics professionals focus on what truly matters: their customers.
Available as of Revenova’s Winter ’25 release in January 2025, Artimus handles the menial, manual tasks that take away from the human parts of logistics. The artificial intelligence add-on builds loads and posts capacity from inbound emails as well as text prompts. Because Artimus is built inside the TMS using AI models from OpenAI, Revenova’s Chief Technology Officer trained the out-of-the-box version of Artimus to understand the transportation management system and appropriate industry language.
“We’ve been building Artimus for months to be on the forefront of AI in logistics,” Dave Craigmile said. “Artimus is functional out of the box; however we understand each of our customers may use nuanced jargon specific to their operations. Because customers may operate differently, Artimus can be trained using a series of prompts to build loads and post capacity using correct information as well as notifying users when something is missing or written poorly.”
From Skepticism to Transformation
When AI first became a buzzword in logistics, even some of Revenova’s own team members were skeptical. Dave Romanchuk, Revenova’s VP of Product Development, admits he wasn’t convinced at first.
“Tech trends come and go. We’ve seen blockchain hype, and there was a time when AI seemed like it might be the same,” Romanchuk said. “When we saw what was actually possible—how AI could understand logistics-specific language, interpret emails, and generate real, structured data without human input—it was a game changer.”
The turning point came when Revenova’s engineering team built the first iteration of Artimus.
“We realized this wasn’t just about automating tasks,” says David Lazar, the Product Manager who oversaw the project. “It was about fundamentally changing how brokers and carriers interact with their systems—giving them their time back.”
Mike Horvath, Revenova COO and co-founder, emphasized the role AI can play in efficiency, especially with Artimus functioning alongside Agentforce, Salesforce’s AI push. “AI in logistics isn’t just about predictions and large language models,” Horvath said. “It’s about combining AI’s intelligence with your data and workflow to create a truly smart, conversational interface. Artimus reads emails, creates records with confidence scores, and even allows users to correct mistakes and train the system over time. It’s not just about automation—it’s about smarter automation.”
Alyssa Norcross, one of Revenova’s Senior Product Managers who worked on the project, sees Artimus as an essential tool for industry professionals given her experience in freight forwarding.
“There are so many repetitive tasks in logistics that don’t require deep thought but do require accuracy. Artimus handles those, allowing users to focus on the exceptions and the relationships that truly drive business,” she explains. “For example, when customers send in load requests, Artimus extracts all the necessary details, cross-checks stored rates, and can even generate an instant response. That kind of efficiency is invaluable.”
What Artimus Does (And What It Doesn’t)
Artimus isn’t just another chatbot. It’s an AI agent designed specifically for transportation management. It:
- Reads and understands incoming emails from carriers and customers to automatically create truck capacity records and load requests.
- Processes quote requests in seconds, allowing brokers to respond instantly and stay ahead of competitors.
- Learns over time, improving accuracy as it interacts with users and receives feedback.
- Works seamlessly within Revenova TMS, built natively on the Salesforce platform for an integrated experience.
What Artimus doesn’t do? Replace people.
AI That Strengthens Relationships
One of the biggest concerns about AI in logistics is that it could remove the human touch. Revenova sees it differently.
“Relationships are the backbone of logistics,” says Romanchuk. “AI shouldn’t replace them—it should enhance them.”
Instead of wasting time manually entering data, brokers can now focus on real conversations. Imagine being on the phone with a customer while Artimus processes their quote in the background.
“Now, instead of spending time typing up load details, brokers can actually engage—ask about a customer’s son’s baseball game, talk strategy, and build rapport,” says Lazar. “That’s what keeps business moving.”
Horvath reinforced this point, adding, “AI isn’t here to take away jobs—it’s here to make people more productive. It’s about removing the redundant data entry and freeing up employees to focus on the strategic aspects of their roles. The automation takes care of the predictable tasks, while people handle the complex and unexpected.”
Norcross echoed this, explaining that AI allows logistics professionals to focus on high-value tasks.
“When I worked in operations, I spent so much time managing exceptions—lost shipments, missed pickups, urgent client needs,” Norcross noted. “Artimus lets brokers and forwarders respond instantly to customers, giving them a competitive edge. AI isn’t replacing jobs; it’s giving people more time to do them better.”
The Future of AI in Logistics
Artimus is just the beginning. While its first release focuses on automating email-driven workflows, the Revenova team is already exploring voice processing, predictive analytics, and deeper AI-driven insights. “We’re looking at a future where AI doesn’t just process data but helps businesses proactively make better decisions,” says Lazar.
Horvath also highlighted the long-term vision. “This isn’t just a feature—it’s a strategic investment. With Salesforce’s AI infrastructure growing rapidly, and our ability to build on top of it, we’re positioning Revenova customers at the forefront of AI-powered logistics.”
And for those still skeptical? Revenova’s approach is simple: Try it. If it doesn’t make your life easier, don’t use it. But based on early results, Artimus is proving itself to be more than just hype—it’s a shift in how logistics professionals work.
