Swan Transportation Dives into Cloud-based Transportation Management

A third-party logistics provider, Swan Transportation serves as a value-added partner for its customers. The company uses Revenova TMS for billing, financial management, reporting and other functions. Its frontline employees use the solution to book loads, manage transactions and communicate with customers.

“Revenova is a huge step from the internal system that we were using,” says Tommy Jones, owner and partner. “Just programming technology-wise, the connections we now have with vendors has been a big improvement.” Jones especially likes how the TMS organizes the loads by columns, similar to the company’s previous proprietary system.

“Our team was already used to something similar, familiar, and that’s what they wanted to stick with,” says Jones. “Revenova TMS really matched.”

The Sky’s the Limit for KCH Transportation

As an end-to-end, national logistics provider, KCH Transportation takes its commitment to customer service very seriously. “When we take on loads, we don’t give them back no matter what the price is,” says Garrett Barnes, VP of Solutions, who considers ease of implementation and scalability when assessing new software solutions.

“Early on, one of the biggest deciding factors was that the Revenova TMS and the [Salesforce CRM] platform that it sits on were highly configurable; that gave us a lot of flexibility,” Barnes continues. “Salesforce allows us to be nimble and quick to customer requests.”

Barnes says the TMS didn’t require too much process change on KCH Transportation’s part, and that its open platform allows for “changes on the fly” when it comes to carrier sourcing and leveraging Revenova’s many technology integration partners. “We’re able to quickly set those up and connect them quickly and then adjust on the fly,” says Barnes, who also likes the platform’s extensive reporting capabilities. “The sky’s the limit in terms of the incoming data, how it’s displayed and how we deliver it to sales, accounting and other departments.”

Tools and Resources Like No Other TMS

Growing freight brokerage ILG Logistics was looking for a new TMS and found what it was looking for in Revenova TMS. Its existing solution was lagging on the innovation front as ILG moved into the future, grew, and began serving new customers. “As a family-owned business, we have a family-first culture but we’re also not afraid to try new things,” says Daniel Ilg, president. “Anything that we can do to help our current customers get better and more efficient, we’re going to do it.”

With a strong customer service focus, ILG turned to Revenova TMS to help it fulfill that commitment and move its vast network of multimodal freight (“the only thing we don’t do is tanker freight,” says Ilg). When the company wants to create a new mode of transportation, it’s up-and-running same day thanks to Revenova TMS and its Salesforce underpinning.

“Because the TMS is built with open-source application programming interfaces (APIs), we can create our own integrations with the vendors that we use and that we like,” says Ilg. “There’s not another TMS out there that would give us the tools and the resources to be able to do that.”

A Good Overall Fit for Everest Transportation Systems

When Eric Littel joined Everest Transportation Systems as its new CTO, the national freight brokerage was in the middle of a new TMS implementation. Littel had used Revenova TMS in the past and knew that the solution “checked all of the boxes” Everest was looking for.

“We got to a turning point where we felt like maybe a shift is in the works here and we should probably pivot,” says Littel, who enjoys the close relationship that his company has with Revenova, which consults with Everest to learn more about its ongoing needs. Then, the TMS  provider builds its solution in a way that meets those requirements. “Knowing what’s going on ‘under the hood’ with our TMS has been a big plus,” he adds.

Ultimately, Everest wants to remain as nimble and agile as possible for its customers. “We have some customers who require specific wording on documents, locations and barcodes,” says Littel. “We were able to customize and build that out for them in our TMS, which has been a good fit for Everest overall.”
